Date published: 05 September 2024

Two adults and three children managed to escape a house fire in Rochdale last night (5 September).

Emergency services including three fire engines, police officers and paramedics all attended the building on Halifax Road around 8.40pm.

It is believed that all who escaped were treated at the scene. No update has yet been provided on the condition of the adults or children.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 8.40pm on Wednesday 4 September, fire crews were called to reports of a fire at a home on Halifax Road, Rochdale.

“Three engines from Rochdale and Littleborough stations were quickly mobilised to the fire, which involved the living room of a terraced property.

“Firefighters wearing breathing apparatus used two hose reels to extinguish the fire. A man, a woman and three children were able to get out of the house and were treated at the scene by North West Ambulance Service (NWAS).

“Fire crews were in attendance for just over an hour before handing the scene over to Greater Manchester Police (GMP). GMFRS fire investigation officers are supporting the multi-agency investigation into the cause of the fire."
