T-Level triumphs at Hopwood Hall College

Date published: 21 August 2024

Students at Hopwood Hall College and University Centre celebrated another exceptional results day, with many achieving remarkable grades that highlight the growing impact of T-Levels as a pathway to success.

T-Levels, in particular, have emerged as a transformative qualification for students, with increasing numbers opting for this route to secure their future careers.

Among the high achievers is Harrison Dolan, who earned a distinction in the T-Level for building services electrical engineering. Harrison, a former student of St Matthew’s RC High School in Moston, Manchester, has secured a highly sought-after degree apprenticeship with the construction and engineering firm Costain.

His classmate, Joshua Naylor, also utilised his T-Level qualification to secure employment with the building services specialist, Briggs and Forrester. Joshua, who previously attended St Cuthbert's RC High School in Rochdale, was the recipient of the T-Level Star Award at the college’s annual student awards in June.

In another success story, Alina Iqbal achieved a distinction in the T-Level for education and childcare. Alina, a former pupil of Oulder Hill Leadership Academy, has now accepted an offer to study BA Early Years and Childhood Studies at Manchester Metropolitan University.

T-Levels have rapidly become a popular choice at Hopwood Hall, partly due to the invaluable work placement opportunities they provide. Each course includes a 315-hour (45-day) work placement, allowing students to gain practical experience and thrive in various workplaces across the region.

In addition to T-Levels, students pursuing BTEC qualifications at Hopwood Hall also celebrated impressive results. One standout student, Kieron Biggs, achieved three distinction*s in his Level 3 sport with football course.

Kieron, who attended Newman RC College, is now preparing to further his education by pursuing a foundation degree in sports coaching and performance analysis at Hopwood’s University Centre.

Commenting on the achievements, Julia Heap, Principal and CEO at Hopwood Hall College and University Centre, said: “This year’s results are a testament to the hard work and determination that we see from our students all year round.

"I’m over the moon to see that their qualifications are already opening up exciting new opportunities – with so many learners having been offered employment, accepted a place at university, or moved onto a degree apprenticeship. The class of 2024 have set a brilliant example for future students, and I’ve no doubt they’ll go on to find even more success in whatever they choose to do!”
