“We are aware of speculation” – GMP release update on Manchester Airport arrests
Date published: 05 August 2024
The four men arrested are currently on bail
Police have released an update on the arrests made at Manchester Airport following the viral kicking video, in which an officer was seen kicking and stamping on a man’s head.
Local protests erupted as a result of the footage, showing the man being kicked as he lay on the ground on 23 July. This incident was followed by more footage revealed days later, which shows the events leading up to it, which many have said paints more of a picture of what happened on the day.
More recently, on 2 August, the force has addressed 'speculation' swirling in the wake of the high-profile case. Police say that all four men arrested during the scenes seen on video remain on police bail, with a live investigation 'very much ongoing'.
A spokesperson said: “We are aware of speculation circulating about the case involving four men arrested at Manchester Airport on 23/07/2024.
“This is a current live investigation and all four men remain on police bail. Enquiries are very much ongoing in relation to all aspects of this incident.”
