Temporary banking hub opens at Heywood post office

Date published: 29 July 2024

Cash Access UK, the organisation dedicated to ensuring nationwide access to cash, has inaugurated a temporary banking hub in Heywood. This interim facility is housed within the Post Office at 48-50 Market Street.

Operating five days a week, the temporary hub will serve the community until a permanent banking hub is established.

The facility provides a counter service managed by the Post Office, allowing customers of all major banks to conduct regular cash transactions from Monday to Friday, between 9am and 5pm. Additionally, it offers a community banker service where customers can discuss more complex banking issues with representatives from their respective banks on designated days:

  • Monday: Santander
  • Tuesday: Barclays
  • Wednesday: Halifax
  • Thursday: NatWest
  • Friday: HSBC (coming soon)

The temporary hub began operations on Thursday 25 July and Cash Access UK has confirmed efforts are ongoing to secure a permanent location for the banking hub. The temporary hub will remain operational until the permanent facility is ready.

Gareth Oakley, CEO of Cash Access UK, said: "I’m pleased to announce that we have opened the temporary banking hub in Heywood. We're very grateful that the Post Office has provided us with this temporary space, and we are looking forward to sharing positive news about the hub’s permanent location soon."
