Date published: 21 July 2024

After a remarkable 33 years of dedicated service, Mrs Gill Sarginson, the much-loved headteacher of Hopwood CP School, will be retiring at the end of this term. Mrs Sarginson, who began her career at the school as a newly qualified teacher, has been at the helm as headteacher for the past 18 years.

Her tenure has seen numerous achievements, notably including two outstanding Ofsted inspections, a testament to her exceptional leadership and commitment to educational excellence.

Mrs Sarginson has become an integral part of the Hopwood community, having taught generations of children and even some of their parents.

To celebrate her retirement, the entire school gathered for a special picnic lunch.

The event was marked by a warm and sunny afternoon, creating a perfect setting for staff and students to express their heartfelt appreciation and bid a fond farewell to Mrs Sarginson.
