Star Wars Day raises £490 for Milnrow woman's cancer treatment

Star Wars Day at Rochdale Exchange
Saturday was Star Wars Day and Rochdale Exchange used the power of the Force to help raise awareness of local woman, Helen Copping’s fight against a rare form of secondary breast cancer to her liver, bones and chest nodes.
The shopping centre ‘flew’ in a full size Starfighter from Star Wars: Attack of the Clones, and put on a space trail around the mall with everyone who completed it receiving free sweets and a chance to win prizes from Octave Gothic in the Exchange.
Children met some of their favourite characters, jumped inside Obi-Wan Kenobi’s Starfighter for a photo and made their very own Baby Yoda and BB-8 to take home.
Centre Manager, Martin Ballard, said ‘When we heard about Helen’s fight, we knew we had to get involved somehow and Star Wars Day was a great way to make it front and centre of people’s attention! Hopefully, it will continue to stay there and between us all we can help raise the funds for this vital treatment.’
On the day the team raised a whopping £493 which continued to rise after the event with online donations and currently stands at £565. Anyone who wants to help Helen’s fight and keep the total rising, you can donate to her GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/64680cc3
