Moss Lodge in Rochdale
In April, an 18-room supported living service will officially open in Rochdale to provide accommodation for adults with a mental health diagnosis, autism and/or a learning disability.
Located close to the centre of Rochdale, the former Moss Lodge hotel has been refurbished into a supported living facility. Moss Lodge will accommodate up to 18 people in single ensuite rooms.
The building boasts a spacious communal kitchen, lounge area, garden space, offices, meeting rooms and activity areas. Residents will benefit from 24/7 support onsite from a service manager and support workers as well as having input from a multi-disciplinary team.
The new service is the result of joint working between Northern Healthcare and Inclusion Housing. Sarah Waters, business director at Inclusion Housing said: “This will be our second service with Northern Healthcare, and we look forward to the opening of Moss Lodge and working in partnership to welcome our tenants to their new home.”
The plans to convert the former five-star hotel into a residential home were objected to by some local residents and objectors shouted obscenities to councillors when the plans were approved at a planning committee meeting in October 2022.
Northern Healthcare currently has a Care Quality Commission inspection rating of ‘Requires Improvement’ as of September 2021, which their representative revealed at the planning meeting after being directly asked three times. The company manages 15 other similar units across the north of England, so stressed they have the experience to do this.
The service is currently accepting clinical referrals from health and social care professionals.
Alistair Hannah-Briggs, commercial director at Northern Healthcare said: "Northern Healthcare are delighted to be working in partnership with Inclusion Housing and Rochdale MBC to deliver this much-needed supported living service. We look forward to delivering our supported living pathways at Moss Lodge, bringing a high-quality level of support that enables people to rebuild their confidence to take the next step on their recovery journey to greater independent living in the community."
