Police appeal for information after a serious collision in Rochdale

Police are appealing for witnesses to an incident yesterday (Wednesday 6 March) which has left a 70-year-old man in a critical condition.
The man was hit while crossing the road at around 3.40pm by a Land Rover Defender which was travelling along Halifax Road heading towards Rochdale town centre.
The pedestrian was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries and he remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the Land Rover, a 29-year-old man, remained at the scene and was arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by careless driving.
The man was interviewed by detectives and released under investigation pending further enquiries.
GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident to come forward.
They are also keen to speak to anyone who may have any footage, including dashcam, CCTV, or mobile phone footage from the area in the moments leading up to the collision.
