The body of a man has been found at the Ashfield Road home in Rochdale where the bomb disposal team were dispatched to after ‘replica guns’ were discovered on Thursday (15 February).
Emergency services were called to Ashfield Road where a number of homes were evacuated “as a precaution.”
Police were first called to reports of concern for a person’s welfare at the address; it is now understood a man was found dead inside his home by a family member.
After police arrived on the scene, they discovered a number of “suspicious items” – later confirmed to be replica World War Two guns – and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit was called to review the situation.
No further details about the man have been released.

“Responding to a concern for welfare at a property, officers discovered a large amount of suspicious items inside.
“Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) have been tasked to attend the scene and inspect the property.
“As a precaution, several houses in the area have been asked to evacuate while this work continues.”
