A solicitor-turned-dog-behaviour-consultant who grew up in Rochdale has released a book about understanding the canine mind.
Aftab Ahmed, who moved to Rochdale from Pakistan when he was five, has released ‘To Be Frank: everything you need to know about dog behaviour’, a two-part book helping dog owners understand their pet’s psyche and how to address concerning behaviour.
A former corporate solicitor, Aftab left the profession when he was about 42, feeling that he wasn’t seeing enough of his children. Now he regularly lectures on the subject of dog behaviour in the UK and abroad.
Aftab is accredited and certified by numerous organisations, including the International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants, the Institute of Modern Dog Trainers, Guild of Dog Trainers and the International School of Canine Psychology & Behaviour.
Aftab said: “I was inspired to write ‘To Be Frank’ by the arrival of Frank, a cockapoo, whose mischievous and cheeky personality caused my daughter to raise a stream of questions about how to help Frank understand what was required of him in his new human home.
“This book addresses all of those questions and much more.”
Aftab has lived in Surrey for over 20 years, although his family remain in Rochdale. He sat his A-Levels at Greenhill High School before attending Southampton University and Guildford Law School.
‘To Be Frank’ is available online and in all good bookshops in paperback and ebook formats.
