Two joint winners – Nanny’s Café and Channings Nursery – were also named as the best for Milnrow’Pink’Hey
This year’s four winners for the annual Little’Pink’Borough and Milnrow’Pink’Hey cancer awareness campaigns have been revealed.
The annual campaign sees many shops and businesses display pink in their windows for October’s Cancer Awareness month, judged by local councillors.
The best displays for Little’Pink’Borough were named as Belle Estelle Hair & Beauty and Fingerprint, chosen by local councillors Ashley Dearnley, John Taylor and Janet Emsley, and Cancer Research UK’s Rebecca Graham.
Belle Estelle said they were “thrilled” to share the number one position for their window design, the work of Katie’s Creations, whilst Fingerprint’s Jill Thompson said she was equally “delighted.”
Belle Estelle’s Tylah Amin, Abbie Sutcliffe, Molly Wilkinson and Terri Adams said: “We are thrilled to be joint winners this year. It’s not about winning for many of the local businesses, it’s about coming together as a community to support such a great cause and hopefully raise awareness.
“Many of our clients have been affected by cancer in some way, and my own family has been affected by cancer this year too, so to win when there were so many other fantastic window displays really is special.”
Jill Thompson, of Fingerprint, said: “Fingerprint of Littleborough was delighted to be a joint winner for the pink window competition this year. It is a pleasure every year to fill the window with sentiment and encouragement to support overall cancer awareness which at some point affects everyone us.
“Each year the message has grown as more and more pink windows appear. Very proud to be a part of a beautiful community and thank you to Kath and Andy [O’Donnell, of The Three Amigos FUNdraising Group] who started this very positive journey forward as more money is raised and awareness.”
Two joint winners – Nanny’s Café and Channings Nursery – were also named as the best for Milnrow’Pink’Hey, chosen by local councillors Irene Davidson and Andy Kelly, and Cancer Research UK’s Rebecca Graham.
Nanny’s Café’s window display was created by Charlotte Rigby whilst the windows at Channings Nursery were created by staff and children.
Staff from Nanny’s said they were “so proud and very grateful” to be named joint winners.
The event is organised by The Three Amigos FUNdraising Group, Tracey Jacobs and Suzanne Gumbley, who said: “It was once again a very tough decision for our judges; every year gets better. Thank you so much for your time in judging our windows, and thank you to our sponsors this year.
“We were touched and moved by so many fantastic displays and messages. You all certainly helped raise awareness about cancer and we are very grateful to all who took the time and effort to take part in this very important pink campaign.”
Littleborough’s pink campaign is in its eighth year, sponsored by PDS (Performance Doorstep Solutions) and Milnrow’Pink’Hey is in its third year, sponsored by Sterling Solutions Ltd.
