Rochdale custom board maker installs Queen Elizabeth II commemorative board in Hampshire

Date published: 04 October 2023

Rochdale custom boardmaker Neville Greenhalgh’s latest creation – a commemorative board to the late Queen Elizabeth II – has been installed at the Irish Guards headquarters in Aldershot, Hampshire.

The board, which depicts the late Monarch’s Platinum Jubilee Birthday Parade of 2022 and thanks her for 70 years of service, was commissioned by the 1st Battalion, the Irish Regiment of Foot Guard, and shows a unique parade of military pageantry commanded by Lt Col JW Aldridge MBE.

Measuring 8ft by 5ft, the board was designed and made by Neville in consultation with Irish Guards Media Officer, Capt RJ Howells, and with images processed by George Steele. The board, which was in three sections, was delivered and assembled on-site by Neville and partner Wendy Sunderland during the summer.

The board, believed to be the only one in the Household Division, was widely appreciated.

Neville started making the board last year, one of many in his portfolio, which also includes the likes of Captain Tom Moore, Marcus Rashford and Lee Rigby.

He started board making “by accident” after he was asked to make some advertising boards for Rochdale Cricket Club when his youngest son, then eight, played the sport. Neville also made the honours board for the cricket club.
