The Community for Voluntary Service (CVS) AGM, including a showcase/exhibition at Rochdale Town Hall, was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress, Councillor Peter and Mrs Evans, along with other councillors, CVS-R Members, Statutory Organisations, Voluntary and Community Organisations/Groups.

The showcase/enhibition in the Great Hall was packed throughout the day. Visitors had the opportunity to view thirty stands, a mixture of voluntary and community sector organisations and statutory organisations and CVS-R stands of various projects. Tye list of exhibitors included Shopmobility, Fairtrade, Anti Hate Crime, RBWH, ROBES and Rochdale Online.

Asked why the showcase/exhibition this year a spokeswoman for CVS said: "It is an opportunity for the Voluntary and Community Sector to promote the work undertaken by staff and volunteers and a chance for all to take advantage of inter and cross networking."

CVS Rochdale is a Borough-wide independent umbrella organisation providing advice, information and support to Voluntary and Community Groups in Heywood, Middleton, Pennines and Rochdale Townships.

CVS Rochdale has developed into the largest general membership body for Voluntary and Community Organisations in the Borough of Rochdale.  Since 1975, CVS has provided a voice for over 1,000 groups ranging from large charities to small self help groups involved in a myriad of Voluntary and Community Actions at a local level.

Thier key role in influencing Local Government and Strategic Partnerships is balanced with the need to stay connected to our members and the people within the community.

CVS services focus on building the capacity of Community and Voluntary Organisations to achieve their own or greater objectives, working with individuals, helping them to become more active, volunteering on local projects, accessing skills and learning opportunities to increase employability and the self-confidence to develop their own ideas.
