A member of the Milnrow Dynamos Under 12s Sapphires football team has won the title of Miss Junior Teen Greater Manchester and a place in the prestigious grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain 2023.
12-year-old Evie Duffy, who has been a member of the football team for two years and is a striker, has seen off hundreds of teens from across Great Britain to make it to the pageant’s grand final.
She said: “I was excited to have made it to the semi-finals, but to be a grand finalist and compete on stage is a great achievement.”
Each finalist of Miss Teen Great Britain is invited to raise funds for children’s charity, Together for Short Lives; Evie completed a colour fun run and raised £360 for the charity.
As part of her fundraising leading up to the big event, Evie has also collected over 70 pairs of football boots and donated them to Rochdale AFC community Trust.
Rochdale AFC Community Trust collects old and unwanted boots and gives them back to people in the community so that every person has the opportunity to take part in the sport with the right equipment.
Evie said: “Taking part in Miss Teen Great Britain has opened my eyes more and how I can get more involved to help local charities.”
Evie is sponsored for the event by local small business owner Bethany Allt, who runs Koala Nala handmade scrunchies. Bethany inspired Evie to take part in the event due to previous experiences in pageants herself.
The grand final of Miss Teen Great Britain will be held on Saturday 14 October at The Globe in Blackpool. The weekend of Miss Teen Great Britain is set to be full of fun, with the finalists enjoying a beauty queen challenge day and a pyjama diva party at the Village Hotel.
The winner of Miss Teen Great Britain will walk away with some incredible prizes – including a £1,000 cash prize, dresses from The Dress Studio, a sparkling sash and crown, plus more.
Evie added: “I can't wait for the final now, I know I will be nervous on the day, but it will be such an experience just to be there on stage.”
