Man rescued from embankment near Sandbrook Park

A man was taken to hospital with a leg injury after being rescued from an embankment near Sandbrook Park on Wednesday afternoon (28 June).

The man fell down the embankment before he was rescued by the fire service, who used line rescue equipment to reach him.

He was transferred to the care of the North West Ambulance Service, who took him to hospital after attending the scene with an ambulance and the Hazardous Area Response Team.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: “At around 1:30pm yesterday afternoon (Wednesday 28 June), two fire engines from Rochdale fire station and the Technical Response Unit from Ashton-under-Lyne were called to attend Edinburgh Way, Rochdale, where a person had fallen down an embankment.

“Firefighters used line rescue equipment to reach the man and bring him up before transferring him into the care of paramedics from North West Ambulance Service.

“Crews worked alongside colleagues from NWAS and Greater Manchester Police at the scene and were in attendance for around an hour and a half.”

Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service have also been contacted.
