Charity partnership helps Rochdale family make their house a home

Date published: 10 May 2023

A Rochdale family has been provided with free new furniture, thanks to Sofology and its charity partner Home-Start UK.

The recently launched charity partnership has seen Sofology pledge fundraising, volunteering and promotion of Home-Start UK across its 55 stores, and recently, along with its supplier, it has donated furniture sets to 56 families in need across the UK, including the local recipients.

Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children through their challenging times.

Families struggling with post-natal depression, isolation, physical health problems, bereavement and many other issues receive the support of a volunteer who will spend around two hours a week in a family’s home supporting them in the ways they need.

In the current cost of living crisis Home-Start has been supporting families who are struggling to afford basic essentials and those who are starting out in new homes.

Sofology has helped in these efforts by providing sofas and other pieces of furniture for families building their lives back up in new homes, while Sofology has also used its network of delivery vehicles to ensure the furniture reaches those who need it in a timely manner.

Emma Dinnis, Managing Director of Sofology, said: “We are proud to work with Home-Start as we strive to make a real difference in our local communities.

“The possibilities of this partnership are endless as we seek to find innovative ways of fundraising and volunteering with the charity, but we are also pleased to be able to support in a very direct way by seeing some of our sofas go to people who really need them and play a small part in making a difference to these families’ lives.

“As 2023 continues, we will announce further ways our customers and colleagues can help the vital work carried out by Home-Start in a difficult time for many families.”

A spokesperson for Home-Start said: “We help the families we work with through some incredibly challenging times, and so we are very grateful on their behalf to Sofology for playing a part in helping them build their lives up again.”

“We look forward to further developing our partnership over the coming months.”
