Shawclough Community Primary School’s autism resource-based group, Rainbow Provision, has celebrated National Autism Acceptance Week by raising money for the Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home.
Nineteen children took part in a 5km sponsored run, running 1km per day throughout the week with all monies raised to be donated to the Rochdale Children’s Moorland Home. Around £1,000 has been raised from the run and a non-uniform day.
The Moorland Home is a non-profit charity which provides children within the Rochdale borough opportunities to access their services and activities free of charge.
Charlotte Keegan, Rainbow Provision manager, said: “Throughout the week we have been learning and talking to the children about autism and what it means for them.
“I am so proud of all our amazing children who not only have challenged themselves every day but are also raising awareness of autism.”
