Local residents welcome to bring concerns about 5G masts to tonight's Norden Area Forum

Date published: 28 February 2023

A meeting is being held tonight (Tuesday 28 February) where Norden residents can raise concerns about a forthcoming 5G mast in the ward.

The Norden Area Forum is being held at Edenfield Road Methodist Church with ward councillors present and “hopefully company representatives” and Norden residents are welcome to attend.

Similar masts have popped up around the borough, much to the chagrin of local residents.

Local resident Gary Shaw said: “Several companies are seeking to install if not already installed a network of telephone poles and lines around us. One company is in the process of erecting a 15m mast on the banking of Redfern Wood and Caldershaw Road, which is not a small structure, but an unsightly and, quite frankly, a detriment to our surroundings.

“I have been objecting for the past six weeks now and encourage Norden residents to attend the local area forum to speak to local councillors and hopefully company representatives to achieve a solution, if not removal of the above as there is a perfectly good sub ground network in place ordered by the council when the estate was built.

“If you are of the same mindset, or maybe you support them, then come along to the meeting at Edenfield Road Methodist Church.”

The Norden Area Forum takes place from 7pm on Tuesday 28 February at Edenfield Road Methodist Church, Rochdale, OL12 7QE.
