Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To maintain essential deliveries to building works at Kingsway Park High School.

Expected start and finish: Monday 2 January 2023 – Thursday 31 August 2023.
Restriction and location:
Temporary prohibition of parking on Stiups Lane at the following points:

  • The west side from its junction with Turfhill Road for a distance of 50 metres in a north easterly direction
  • The east side, from a point 50 metres from its junction with Turfhill Road for a distance of 20 metres in a north easterly direction

Alternative route: Not applicable.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install traffic calming measures for the new cycle way.

Expected start and finish: Thursday 5 January 2023 – Friday 17 February 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Abbott Street, from its junction with Manchester Road for a distance of 15 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route:

  • The alternative route for traffic will be Manchester Road, Nixon Street, Ivor Street and Harry Street.
  • Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 5pm each day, Monday 6 February 2023 – Monday 20 February 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of part of Roach Place. This will be from its junction with George Street for a distance of 115 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route:

  • Alternative routes will be signed on street when the closure is in operation.
  • Access will be provided if required and safe to do so.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To reconstruct the pavements.

Expected start and finish: Monday 6 February 2023 – Sunday 19 March 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Palatine Street and Rathbone Street, for their entire lengths.
Alternative route: The alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install structural steelwork.

Expected start and finish: 9am – 5pm each day, Monday 13 February 2023 – Thursday 30 March 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lower Falinge, from its junction with Redcross Street for a distance of 100 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Redcross Street, Waterhouse Street and Toad Lane.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To enable Electricity North West to repair an electrical cable.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 21 February 2023 – Thursday 23 February 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Half Acre Lane, for its entire length.
Alternative route: The alternative route will be Half Acre Road, Bury Road and Roch Valley Way.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To carry out electrical works in the road.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 21 February 2023 – Sunday 26 February 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of part of Muriel Street. This will be from its junction with Lockhart Street and Kings Road for a distance of 70 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: To allow the safe delivery of works required for a new housing development.

Expected start and finish: Monday 22 August 2022 – Friday 26 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Rothay Drive, from its junction with Bonscale Crescent for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To facilitate drainage works and build a new site entrance.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 25 January 2023 – Monday 10 April 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Don Street, from a point 165 metres north of its junction with Oldham Road for a distance of 107 metres in a northerly direction.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To resurface the road.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 5pm each day, Monday 13 February 2023 – Monday 6 March 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Church Avenue, for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles. Access will be provided if required and safe to do so.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Middleton
Reason: To replace a defective frame and cover in the road.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am – 3pm, Monday 20 February 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of part of Manor Road. This will be from its junction with Ash Walk for a distance of 60 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for Manor Road, Kingsway, Manchester New Road and Mainway.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To allow electrical works to be undertaken.

Expected start and finish: Monday 6 March 2023 – Friday 10 March 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary prohibition of waiting at any time along the north side of Lodge Street. This will be from a point 24 metres east of its junction with Market Place for a distance of 55 metres in an easterly direction.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To replace gas mains and carry out other works.

Expected start and finish: Monday 20 February 2023 – Friday 24 February 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of part of Schofield Street. This will be from its junction with Royal Avenue to its junction with Cowburn Street.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Schofield Street, Walton Street, Manchester Road, Manchester Street and Hardfield Street.

Area: Heywood
Reason: To carry out investigative works in the road.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 21 February 2023 – Friday 24 February 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of part of Ashworth Road. This will be from a point 440 metres north of its junction with Bury and Rochdale Old Road for a distance of 130 metres in a north westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Ashworth Road, Bury and Rochdale Old Road, Norden Road, Bagslate Moor Road, Moorland Avenue and Edenfield Road.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Pennines
Reason: To repair a water leak in the road.

Expected start and finish: Thursday 26 January 2023 – Thursday 23 February 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of part of Shore Road. This will be from its junction with Shore Lea for a distance of 10 metres in a south westerly direction.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Pennines
Reason: To repair a damaged sewer in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Thursday 2 February 2023 - Thursday 23 February 2023 or until the work is completed, whichever is sooner.
Restriction and location: Prohibit vehicles travelling south on Finance Street from turning right onto James Street.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Finance Street, New Road, Arm Road and James Street.

Area: Pennines
Reason: To reconstruct the pavements.

Expected start and finish: Monday 13 February 2023 – Monday 13 March 2023.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Wordsworth Crescent and Southey Close, for their entire lengths.
Alternative route: The alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on street.
