Rochdale: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new pedestrian access to flats.

Expected start and finish: Monday 15 August 2022 –  Friday 23 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Samuel Ashworth Street, from its junction with Lower Falinge to a point 40 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Toad Lane and Lower Falinge.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair the carriageway.

Expected start and finish:

  • The closure of Dell Road will be in place from Tuesday 23 August 2022 – Monday 31 October 2022.
  • The prohibition of waiting will be in place from 8am – 5pm, Mondays to Fridays, Tuesday 23 August 2022 – Monday 31 October 2022.

Restriction and location:

  • Temporary closure of Dell Road, from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 330 metres in a north westerly direction.
  • Temporary prohibition of waiting and loading or unloading on Dell Road, from its junction with Shawclough Road for a distance of 305 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Market Street, Shawclough Road and Dell Road.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace a water mains supply in the carriageway and footway.

Expected start and finish: Sunday 28 August 2022 – Friday 9 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of The Strand, from its junction with Mornington Road to a point 107 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Mornington Road, Balderstone Road and The Strand.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To repair a leaking gas main.

Expected start and finish: Tuesday 30 August 2022 – Wednesday 7 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Furbarn Road, from its junction with Clay Lane for a distance of 40 metres in a southerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Clay Lane, Bagslate Moor Road, Norden Road, Bury and Rochdale Old Road, Ashworth Road, School Lane and Rake.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To resurface the dual carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am – 3.30pm each day, Monday 5 September 2022 - Friday 9 September 2022.
Restriction and location:
Vehicles will be prohibited from travelling along:

  • Queen Victoria Street for its entire legnth
  • Rhodes Crescent from its junction with Great Gates Road to a point 222 metres in a westerly direction

Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be signed on site.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To construct a highway sewer and manhole.

Expected start and finish: Monday 5 September 2022 – 19 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Newhey Road, from a point 90 metres north of its junction with Elizabethan Way for a distance of 100 metres in a northerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Elizabethan Way, Bridge Street and Dale Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new gas connection to a property.

Expected start and finish: Monday 12 September 2022 - Wednesday 14 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporarily prohibit vehicles from travelling along Heywood Road from its junction with Blomley Street to a point 41 metres in a westerly direction.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Manchester Road, Durban Street and Hanover Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To install a new telecommunications cable in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Saturday 1 October 2022 - 5pm, Sunday 2 October 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporarility prevent vehicles from travelling along Partington Street from its junction with Manchester Road to a point 25 metres in a south-westerly direction.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route available for vehicles.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To replace a waste water manhole cover in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 8am, Saturday 8 October 2022 – 5pm, Sunday 9 October 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary one-way working along Roch Street, from its junction with Albert Royds Street to a point 10 metres in a westerly direction. This will affect westbound traffic only, traffic travelling east won't be affected.
Alternative route: The alternative route for westbound vehicles is Albert Royds Street (the Rochdale bypass), Halifax Road and Canon Street.

Area: Rochdale
Reason: To safely hold the Milaad Procession.

Expected start and finish: Sunday 9 October 2022 from 10am - 2pm.
Restriction and location:
Temporarily stop vehicles from travelling along:

  • Miikstone Road, from its junction with Drake Street to its junction with Tweedale Street
  • Tweedale Street, from its junction with Milkstone Road to its junction with Freehold Street
  • Freehold Street to its junction with Merefield Street
  • Merefield Street to its junction with New Barn Lane
  • New Barn Lane to its junction with Ashfield Road
  • Ashfield Road to its junction with Deeplish Road
  • Deeplish Road to its junction with Milkstone Road
  • Milkstone Road to its junction with Miall Street
  • Miall Street to its junction with Durham Street
  • Durham Street to its junction with Crawford Street
  • Crawford Street from its junction with Oldham Road to its junction with Trent Street

Alternative route: Due to the nature and duration of the event, it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Middleton: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Middleton
Reason: To install a zebra crossing and carry out works to pedestrian islands.

Expected start and finish:

  • The closure of Kingsway will be operative from Monday 22 August 2022 – Friday 14 October 2022.
  • The closure of Kirkway will be operative from 7am – 6pm every day from Sunday 25 September 2022 – Sunday 2 October 2022 as required.

Restriction and location:
Temporary closure of the following roads:

  • Kingsway, from a point 50 metres west of its junction with Kirkway, for a distance of 130 metres in an easterly direction.
  • Kirkway, from a point 65 metres south of its junction with Kingsway for a distance of 120 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: Alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on street when the closures are in operation.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To allow the safe delivery of works required for a new housing development.

Expected start and finish: Monday 22 August 2022 – Friday 26 January 2024.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Rothay Drive, from its junction with Bonscale Crescent for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.

Area: Middleton
Reason: To repair an electricity fault in the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Wednesday 31 August 2022 – Wednesday 21 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Rookway, from its junction with Crow Hill South for a distance of 50 metres in an easterly direction.
Alternative route: Alternative routes for vehicles will be signed on street when the closure is in operation.

Heywood: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Heywood
Reason: To resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am – 5pm each day, Monday 5 September 2022 – Sunday 18 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Lime Grove for its entire length.
Alternative route: There is no alternative route for vehicles.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council

Area: Heywood
Reason: To resurface the carriageway.

Expected start and finish: Monday 19 September 2022 – Sunday 30 October 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Garden Street, for its entire length. The road will be closed in sections and we'll maintain access to all on-street and off-street premises where possible.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles will be Bridge Street (A58), George Street and West Starkey Street.

Pennines: temporary local road closures and restrictions

Area: Littleborough
Reason: To allow access for heavy equipment and machinery.

Expected start and finish: 8am – 6pm each day, Monday 11 July 2022 – Monday 12 December 2022.
Restriction and location:
Temporary prohibition of waiting along the following areas:

  • Riverstone Bridge, both sides for its entire length
  • Railway Street, both sides from its junction with Peel Street for the remainder of its length in a south westerly direction

Alternative route: Not applicable

Area: Pennines
Reason: To carry out urgent electricity jointing work to repair a fault.

Expected start and finish: Friday 2 September 2022 – Wednesday 28 September 2022.
Restriction and location: Temporary closure of Clay Street, from its junction with New Road to its junction with Cecil Street.
Alternative route: The alternative route for vehicles is Starring Road, Cecil Street and Ashwood Drive.
Organised by: Rochdale Borough Council
