Middleton teenager charged after security guard stabbed in shopping centre

A Middleton teenager has been charged in connection with an incident which saw a security guard stabbed multiple times.
Luke McSharry, 19, has been charged with section 18 assault and possession of an offensive weapon.
He has been remanded to appear before Manchester Magistrates Court today (Thursday 26 August).
This relates to reports of a stabbing at around 12.50pm on Saturday 14 August at Middleton Shopping Centre, where the victim, a 42-year-old man, was working as a security guard when he suffered five serious stab wounds. He has since been discharged from hospital.
Officers from GMP Rochdale, with support from Derbyshire Police, arrested the suspect in woodland in Glossop after extensive enquiries by detectives in Rochdale CID.
