Wellbeing packages for St Anne’s Academy pupils

Recipients for the wellbeing packages have been identified by the school and will be given out to young people before the academy breaks for the summer

Wellbeing packages have been donated to pupils at St Anne’s Academy in Middleton by Healthwatch Rochdale.

As the last 12-15 months have been hard for young people, especially regarding mental health and wellbeing, the local health watchdog was able to provide 36 packages after receiving funding from Action Together as part of their Community Warehouse initiative.

Ideas for the items in the wellbeing packages came from young people via Youthwatch and included assorted items such as shower gel, deodorant, stationery, note pads, biscuits and hot chocolate, reusable drink bottles, cordial, sanitary items, face wipes, hand towel, flannel, positive postcards, toothbrush/paste and a keyring.

Contents were sourced where possible from Rochdale Borough businesses to help support local business.

Ben Greenwood, Healthwatch Rochdale interim chair of the board, said: “The pandemic has been a very challenging time for many local people and that is why we wanted to create our wellbeing packages young people were chosen as part of our developing Youthwatch and work with local young people.

“We would like to thank Action Together for awarding us a grant for our wellbeing packages and St Anne’s Academy for working with us to reach the young people who will benefit most.”
