Littleborough and Areas Ladies Circle wins record four awards at national AGM

Date published: 12 May 2021

The Littleborough and Areas Ladies Circle has won a record-breaking four awards at the Ladies Circle Great Britain and Ireland National AGM.

The local Circle branch was presented with four accolades for their charity and fundraising efforts this year in the virtual AGM on 1 May, receiving the International Make a Difference award; National Media and PR award; Charity, Most Time Given award and the Outside the Box, Membership award.

The ladies won each accolade for the following reasons:

International Make a Difference

For their Tour de Ladies Circle virtual charity challenge, visiting every European country with a Ladies Circle, while making lots of new Ladies Circle International friends and raising funds for Manchester relationships charity, Talk Listen Change along the way.

National Media and PR

For continued publicity of the Tour de Ladies Circle challenge, including event branding and features in local press, plus weekly socials updates on progress which are shared far and wide.

Charity, Most Time Given

For the hundreds of hours dedicated by the Littleborough members for good causes over the last year; from wreath-making to virtual photoshoots, quiz nights to Christmas hampers, pamper packs, workshops, raffles and the hours put in by every member for the virtual Tour de Ladies Circle.

Outside the Box, Membership

Presented to 2020-22 chair Jessica Demain for the Mums’ Club outreach initiative, to reach out to mums experiencing feelings of isolation during lockdown. This was set up following Littleborough member, Jenn Davy-Day, being interviewed by ITV News about her experiences of becoming a first time mum during lockdown.

Jessica said: “To say this was unexpected is an understatement, but I’m absolutely brimming with pride and gratitude.

“These awards aren’t why we do what we do, but they genuinely mean the world.”

Ladies' Circle is a social networking organisation for young women aged between 18 and 45, founded in 1932.

The Littleborough and Areas Ladies Circle was launched in 2016, and – pre-Covid- meets twice a month to get involved in a wide variety of fun activities and charity events.

Socially, local groups put their own events calendar together, to reflect the preferences of their members whilst also fundraising for their chosen charities.
