Mountain rescue team help victim of anaphylactic shock

Date published: 22 April 2021

Mountain rescue volunteers helped to rescue a person who suffered an anaphylactic shock when out walking near Rochdale on Tuesday (20 April).

Volunteers of the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team were called out just before 8pm following a request from the North West Ambulance Service to assist with the medical episode.

The call came through as a small section of the team were finishing some training at base, so team vehicles and volunteers were able to respond quickly.

A spokesperson for the Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team said: “The casualty was treated by the ambulance crews on scene.

“Once the team arrived, they were placed onto the stretcher for a short carry up to the team’s 4x4 we had managed to get through the fields, close to the casualty’s location.

“They were then conveyed to the awaiting ambulance for further treatment.

“We wish the casualty a speedy recovery.”
