Doggy Dash goes virtual for 10th anniversary

Date published: 11 July 2020

Now in its 10th year, this year’s Doggy Dash for Life will be a virtual event on Saturday 1 August.

The annual sponsored dog walk is a fun family event which usually takes place at Hollingworth Lake, where participants walk, jog or run for Cancer Research UK.

However, the 2020 Doggy Dash will involve walking your dog on a route of your own choosing, whilst raising vital funds for Cancer Research UK. Fancy dress is optional, as in previous years.

The first Doggy Dash took place in 2010, founded by Kath and Andy O’Donnell of the local fundraising group The Three Amigos. Their late Yorkshire Terrier, Oscar, who lost his own battle with cancer in 2017, inspired the very first event with his love of walks.

Entry is just £6 – everyone who signs up will receive a printable sign, sponsor forms and a virtual medal to share on social media.
