Special thank you for district nurses

Date published: 13 April 2020

Rochdale West district nursing team – who visit patients in their own homes every day – have received an extra special thank you by being presented with an Easter egg each.

The chocolate treats were handed out by local councillor Faisal Rana as his way of saying thank you to the “incredibly brave nurses who are putting their own lives on the line to save others” during the coronavirus pandemic.

Councillor Rana said: “Our dedicated NHS staff have been rightly praised for the work they are doing to keep us all well and safe during this dangerous time.

“But people often only think of the nurses and doctors in hospitals. There are dedicated teams of district nurses visiting very sick people at home every day. We shouldn’t forget those working incredibly hard in the community who are also putting their lives at risk.

“They will be working as usual all over the Bank Holiday weekend, so I thought I would pop along to my local community team and give them a little treat as my way of saying a big thank you.

“These are all incredibly brave nurses who put their own lives on the line every day to save others. They are special people who shouldn’t be overlooked.”
