Local DJ Zac Caulcutt hosted a 24-hour livestream over the weekend to raise funds for the elderly and vulnerable in Milnrow and Newhey during the current pandemic.
Zac was hoping to raise about £1,000 but over 63,000 people tuned in during the livestream and donated over £16,000 for care packages of essentials to the elderly and vulnerable in Milnrow and Newhey.
Zac said: ”I feel well and truly humbled with the support from everybody, the feedback has been incredible, I received messages from celebrities, have been approached about a documentary and had radio stations contact me from around the world.
“I was receiving messages from Mexico, Argentina, Kenya, Miami, New Zealand, Australia and a beach bar in Sri Lanka was streaming my set across the beach! It's crazy.
“I will be continuing every night with my show LOCK DOWN LIVE as it is bringing so much happiness and spreading peace and love, as well as raising so much for a worthy cause. The total is nearing £17,000.
“I am speechless with that amount. I was so overwhelmed when the final figure for the 24 hours came in that I was emotional and cried on camera.
“Every hour I played a song which gave the viewers and their children chance to be involved; the new single ‘Peace & Love’ by LZ7. The band have been asking people at home to film themselves dancing to the song so they can use the clips in their new music video.
“During the 24 hours I had local people and businesses sending me gifts and food. I cannot thank the local people, businesses, friends and family as a community we are coming together, having a good time and raising so much for the elderly and vulnerable at this time to provide care packages for the during this time of uncertainty with coronavirus.”
Zac’s livestream is still available to view here:
