The award is the widely regarded as the most prestigious brass band competition in the world. The band now hold the Northwest Regional Champions Fourth Section; gaining a place at the National Championships 2020 in Cheltenham this coming September.

A spokesperson for St Cuthbert's said: “This is a fantastic achievement for Jodie.

“She is the second youngest player in the band. Jodie is also taking part in the Rochdale Music Festival this week.”

“Jodie is a keen and passionate player and is already planning a career involving music once she leaves school. She has great support from her instrumental teacher Ben Dixon from Rochdale Music service. St Cuthbert’s High School is very proud of her!”
