Heavy rain expected tonight

Heavy rain is expected overnight from 6pm on Monday (9 March).

A yellow warning for rain has been issued until 12 noon on Tuesday, covering the Rochdale borough and some of the wider north west region.

The Met Office warns there is chance of ‘some flooding’ and travel disruption.

What to expect

  • Homes and businesses could be flooded, causing damage to some buildings
  • Delays or cancellations to train and bus services are possible
  • Spray and flooding could lead to difficult driving conditions and some road closures
  • Some communities may be cut off by flooded roads
  • Possible power cuts and loss of other services to some homes and businesses
