Go North West to trial using WhatsApp with bus passengers across Greater Manchester

Date published: 02 March 2020

Bus operator Go North West, which operates the 17 service between Rochdale and Shudehill, is trialling the free instant messaging service WhatsApp for communicating with customers.

From today (Monday 2 March), bus passengers across Greater Manchester will be able to send Go North West a message on WhatsApp, and the customer services team will reply with an answer to their question.

Whether it’s about lost property, to find out where a bus is, a question about a ticket, or even a query about the best bus to catch for an appointment, customers will be able to ask a whole range of questions and receive a fast reply.

Jon Croxford, Operations and Commercial Director at Go North West, said: “We’re constantly looking for new ways to help our customers get in touch with us quickly and easily, and WhatsApp is one of the most widely-used messaging services around.

“With WhatsApp, we’ll be able to communicate more effectively than ever before - keeping customers in the loop with what’s happening, and making bus travel more accessible for everybody”.

All bus users need to do to get in touch with Go North West is to drop a message to 07779 544650, and a member of the customer services team will reply shortly.

They’ll be answering questions between 7am and 7pm, Monday to Friday - messages can still be sent outside of these times, but may take a little longer to receive a reply.
