Middleton's Father Christmas float raises over £5,000 for local groups

The Rotary Club of Middleton's Christmas Float

The Rotary Club of Middleton's Annual Christmas Float tour of Middleton started on Wednesday 4 December, bringing Father Christmas to the children of Middleton and raising over £5,000 for Middleton groups and organisations.

Middleton Rotary Club President, Janice Sawle, said: “I would like to give a huge thank you to Keith Trinnaman for all the hours he has given, both before the float went on tour and during the Santa float touring Middleton. Without his support in building the float and contacting all the volunteers it couldn’t have been as successful as it has been.”

Rotarian Keith Trinnaman, coordinator for the Christmas float said: “Once again the people of Middleton have supported and donated to the Father Christmas float.

“It’s been hard work, but the club has been assisted by the numerous volunteers who have helped with the collections each night.

“Every night has been different, we have tried some new routes this year, and we have had a great time meeting residents, especially the children who come out each night to see and talk to Father Christmas.

“The generosity of the Middleton people always amazes us, and money raised will be donated back to the groups and organisations who came along to our Dragons Den held the October.”
