The swan has been returned to Queen's Park
A swan that was injured in Queen’s Park Heywood has been returned to the park after he was tangled in illegal poaching equipment.
The swan was found earlier this month with a hook and line caught around his tongue, causing terrible injuries and ulcerations.
The tackle was later found to have been illegally set by poachers targeting fish, and has since been reported to the relevant authorities.
Volunteers from the Yorkshire Swan and Wildlife Rescue Hospital captured the swan on 11 June with help from the local fire and rescue service and the RSPCA.
The swan was returned home by volunteers from the rescue hospital on Sunday afternoon (23 June).
The RSPCA and the Yorkshire Swan and Wildlife Rescue Hospital were contacted for comment.
