Charity event in memory of Tina Bennett raises £3,000 for Rochdale and District Mind

Date published: 18 June 2019

Relatives and friends of Tina Bennett presented a cheque for over £3,300 to Rochdale and District Mind this weekend (Saturday 15 June 2019) after holding a charity event at the Brown Cow, Norden last month in remembrance of Tina.

Claire Pickles, Jordan Davies and Chloe Connaughton, alongside the Brown Cow publicans, organised the charity event in memory of Tina who has been fondly spoken about as 'the friendliest lady you could meet, she adored her family and would do anything for anyone'.

The local community and friends supported the event, taking part in a raffle, a tombola, an auction and various competitions on the lead up to the event, and also on the day.

Claire Pickles said: "Thanks to all auction and raffle donators for all their support with this and a special thanks to everyone who helped raised an amazing amount of £3,345.06."

Rochdale and District Mind are a local mental health charity who support young people and adults with mental health problems in the Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale areas.

Paula Hall, Fundraising Co-ordinator for the charity said “We’d like to send our thoughts to Tina’s family and friends in the first instance, because this event wouldn’t have happened if Tina hadn’t unfortunately passed away, but to be rest assured that we will be using the donation in our Wellbeing Service to fund our holistic activities like tai-chi, yoga, Creative Writing, Art 4 Wellbeing for local people in our area. Thank you to everyone involved.”
