Reduce, Reuse, Recycle campaign at Deeplish Community Centre

Date published: 21 June 2019

Community Engagement officers Nigel Goulding and Andrew Ogden from Rochdale Council attended Deeplish Community Centre to speak to residents about reducing single use plastic and promoting the council's new Reduce, Reuse, Recycle campaign on Monday 17 June.

Maniza Khan from the Wellbeing group said: “Nigel and Andrew talked to residents about using cloth bags when shopping which helps towards reducing single use plastic shopping bags.

“They also talked about using refillable plastic bottles and tap water rather than purchasing water from shops or supermarkets, and how we can recycle plastic bottles.

“Residents gave them feedback on recent recycling campaigns."

Nigel and Andrew spoke to residents about using the correct brown bin/caddie and correct caddie liners, reminded them not to put food waste in the dark green bin and encouraged residents to adopt recycling and contribute to improving their environment.

Maniza said: “We are proud to promote recycling in our neighbourhoods and we are committed to this project.

“I want to thank Nigel and Andy for their continued engagement, promotion and support in connecting with residents.

“Anyone who needs recycling bags for food caddies can collect recycling bags from Deeplish Community Centre.”
