Reason: to hold the Norden Carnival Saturday 15 June 2019

Expected start and finish:

  • the prohibition of vehicles order and one-way working order will be operative from 12.45pm-2.15pm on Saturday 15 June 2019.
  • the prohibition of waiting order will be operative from 11.30am-2.15pm on Saturday 15 June 2019.

Restriction and location, temporary closure of the following:

  • Edenfield Road - from a point 150 metres east of Bagslate Moor Road to its junction with Hutchinson Road.
  • Edenfield Road/Hutchinson Road bus terminus - for its entire length.
  • Hutchinson Road - from its junction with Edenfield Road for a distance of 20 metres in a south-westerly direction.
  • Shawfield Lane, -from its junction with Edenfield Road to its junction with Albury Drive.

temporary prohibition of waiting along:

  • Edenfield Road/Hutchinson Road bus terminus - for its entire length.
  • Shawfield Lane - the north-westerly side from its junction with Edenfield Road to its junction with Albury Drive.
  • Unnamed access road to Caldershaw School - for its entire length.

Alternative route:due to the nature and duration of this event, it is not necessary for alternative routes to be in place.

Reason: to repair a retaining wall next to the highway.

Expected start and finish: 7am Monday 29 April 2019 - 12midnight Wednesday 31 July 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of one lane of the carriageway for a distance 120 metres west of 1220 Edenfield Road. Traffic will be managed at this point by 2-way temporary traffic lights during this period.

Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Davyhulme Street, from the junction of Halifax Road to a point 10 metres in a westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Athol Street, Red Lane and Halifax Road. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

  • temporary closure of Cook Street, from the junction of Halifax Road to a point 10 metres in an easterly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Bishop Street, Canon Street and Halifax Road. Pedestrian access will not be affected.

Reason: to allow access to a housing development site. 

Expected start and finish: 8am Monday 16 July 2018 - 6pm Wednesday 15 January 2020.
Restriction and location: temporary cycle lane closure:

  • On the east side of Hollin Lane from a point 125 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 56 metres in a northerly direction.
  • From a point 245 metres north of its junction with Hazelhurst Drive for a distance of 52 metres in a northerly direction.

Alternative route: cyclists will still be able to travel down these road using the main areas of the road, not the cycle lanes.

  • temporary closure of Rectory Street, from its junction with Wood Street to a point 20 metres north east of its junction with Wood Street.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles will be Mellalieu Street, Long Street, Eastway and Wood Street.

Reason: to facilitate works to a new housing development.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am, Monday 11 March 2019 - 6pm, Monday, 4 November 2019.
Restriction and location:

  • temporary closure of Claybank Street from a point 32 metres east of its junction with Cedar Avenue for a distance of 105 metres in an easterly direction. 

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Cedar Avenue and Furness Avenue.

Reason: to repair the pedestrian bridge.

Expected start and finish: 7.30am, Monday 16 May 2019 - 11.59pm Wednesday 5 June 2019.

  • temporary closure of Schofield Street, from its junction with Cowburn Street for a distance of 32 metres in a south-easterly direction. 

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles is Walton Street, Manchester Road, Manchester Street, Hardfield Street and Schofield Street.

Reason: to facilitate drainage improvement works.

Expected start and finish: 9.30am Tuesday 28 May 2019 - 6pm Saturday 1 June 2019.
Restriction and location: temporary one-way working and temporary no right and left turning:

  • Introduce one-way working in a southerly direction along Middleton Road, from its junction with Sycamore Avenue for a distance of 79 metres in a southerly direction in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Middleton Road in a northerly direction from its junction with Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout to its junction with Sycamore Avenue,
  • Introduce one-way working in an easterly direction along Glamis Avenue from its northerly junction with Middleton Road for a distance of 12 metres in so far as vehicles will not be permitted to travel along Glamis Avenue in a westerly direction from a point 12 metres east of its junction with Middleton Road to its junction with Middleton Road,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a left turn manoeuvre from Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout onto Middleton Road in a northerly direction,
  • Prohibit vehicles from undertaking a right turn manoeuvre from Glamis Avenue (its northerly junction with Middleton Road) onto Middleton Road.

Alternative route: the alternative route for vehicles travelling along Middleton Road in a northerly direction and wishing to continue over the Coronation Avenue/Middleton Road Roundabout onto Middleton Road is via Coronation Avenue and Manchester Road.

  • temporary closure of unnamed footpath from Bramhall Close to Elizabethan Way, from Elizabethan Way for a distance of 46 metres in a north westerly direction.

Alternative route: the alternative route for pedestrians and cyclists will be clearly signed when the closure is in place.
