Date published: 06 May 2019

A Milnrow scout was one of 300 people to parade at Windsor Castle after achieving his Queen’s scout award on Sunday (28 April).

Alexander Wedgwood, the only attendee from the Greater Manchester north county this year, paraded past Prince Edward, the Duke of Kent and president of The Scout Association, after receiving the top achievement for Explorer Scouts and Scout Network members.

He also shook hands with Bear Grylls, Chief Scout of The Scout Association, and Chief Commissioner, Tim Kidd.

Alex said: “Scouting has helped me grow as a person and develop many skills that I'm now passing onto the next generation of young people.”

He has recently completed his leadership training to be a Beavers Scout Leader at 1st Milnrow, has been made District Youth commissioner for Pennine and only last May achieved his Duke of Edinburgh Gold, being presented with that by HRH Prince Edward.
