Pure Gym Rochdale raised over £1,000 for Rochdale Children's Moorland Home
Pure Gym Rochdale members raised over £1,000 in a two-hour fitness frenzy of continuous classes to raise funds for Rochdale Children's Moorland Home.
Legs Bums & Tums, Step, and Zumba were but a few of the classes held by personal trainers that members participated in at Pure Gym Rochdale on Saturday 30 March.
Throughout the morning, local businesses Carty Party (nacho cart) and Really Nice stuff (home kitchen baking) provided the necessary sugars to keep energy levels high.
Organiser personal trainer Kevin Chaplin and gym manager Debs Sharif both felt they needed to do something to support Rochdale Children's Moorland Home after finding out from a local fundraiser for the charity, Wesley Dowd, that the home does not receive any statutory funding and relies on the generosity of individuals, charitable trusts along with bequest and donations from those that use the services.
Rochdale Children's Moorland Home acts as a respite for children from disadvantaged families as well as offering a week’s holiday for disadvantaged children. Providing the children with an excellent environment to improve their social skills, quite often, this is the only opportunity that these children have for a holiday.
As the event was the first of its kind at Pure Gym Rochdale, the team was amazed at the whopping £1,050 raised on the day, with funds still coming in and want to thank all those who took part and donated.
The team at Pure Gym are now planning their next charity event for Mental Health UK, hitting the roads to take part in a national relay, all the way from Scotland to Devon.
