‘Benidorm or Bust’ charity drive

Date published: 27 April 2019

Two men from Castleton and Middleton are raising money for Blood Bikes Manchester with the annual ‘Benidorm or Bust’ car rally in May.

Wayne Pritchard, 46, a van driver from Castleton and Stu Carey, 43, a joiner from Middleton, will be driving to Dover on 14 May before taking a ferry to Calais the following day.

Then the real fun begins as the teams set off from Calais to Orleans on the first leg of the annual Benidorm or Bust event, a 1,400 mile driving challenge over four days.

The duo are hoping to raise as much money as possible for local charity Blood Bikes Manchester, which helps the NHS by rapidly transporting and delivering blood and other medical equipment between hospitals.

Wayne said: “We choose the charity Blood Bikes Manchester because they are a voluntary charity that we think needs all the help they can get. We would just like to raise as much as possible, a couple of hundred pounds would be good, but any more would be a great bonus.”

Wayne and Stu have paid the entry fee themselves, plus investing £300 into a Peugeot 206.

“We have had it looked over and it’s all ready to go,” Wayne added.
