Scores of parking tickets issued at Hollingworth Lake over busy Easter weekend

Date published: 25 April 2019

Scores of parking tickets were issued at Hollingworth Lake over the busy Easter weekend.

The lake was patrolled by two civil enforcement officers, who issued over 170 notices for motorists parked on both yellow lines and without displaying a valid permit.

Andrew Storey, head of highways at Rochdale Borough Council, said: “We regularly patrol areas like Hollingworth Lake, and this work is stepped up during busy periods like Bank Holidays.

“The lake was patrolled by two civil enforcement officers over the Easter period, who issued in excess of 170 notices for motorists who parked on yellow lines and in the Resident Permit Zone without displaying a valid permit.

“Several motorists were displaying a Disabled Person’s Blue Badge, which allows parking on yellow lines for up to three hours.

“In addition to carrying out enforcement, civil enforcement officers offer advice to drivers and their visual presence acts as a deterrent.”
