‘Disgraceful’ behaviour displayed by food delivery drivers in Middleton

Date published: 25 April 2019

Behaviour recently displayed by food delivery drivers in Middleton has been branded ‘disgraceful’ by local residents.

Over the Easter weekend, several residents have complained via social media about the behaviour of Uber Eats delivery drivers outside McDonalds in the town centre, saying the drivers are 'disgraceful, arguing and fighting in front of customers then spilling into the street'.

Uber Eats is a popular food delivery app which allows the user to order takeaway from fast food eateries such as McDonalds and KFC.

Other displays of behaviour alleged to have taken place include parking in the disabled parking bays and 'squaring up for fights in front of children' in addition to nearly running a child over after driving onto a pavement.

An Uber Eats spokesperson said: “The alleged behaviour is unacceptable. The safety of our customers and the general public is a top priority for Uber Eats.

“There is no place for violence or anti-social behaviour in our communities.”

Middleton Town Centre Management, Rochdale Borough Council and McDonalds have been contacted for comment.
