Gerald the giant visits Greenbank Primary School

Date published: 05 April 2019

The Early Years children at Greenbank Primary School had their very own giant come to stay after learning about the popular fairy-tale of Jack and the Beanstalk.

Gerald the giant was really sad as he had nowhere to live after ‘Lollypop Lil’ squished his house flat.

Children at the primary school wrote him letters to cheer him up and even had 'Roger The Roving Reporter' come in to see if the children could help find Gerald's special friend, Penny from Kilkenny.

The children soon got busy designing and making Gerald new clothes, shoes and musical instruments before organising a special birthday tea party for the giant.

The children even invited their mums and dads to come in and help him celebrate. There were lots of activities for the children and parents to enjoy with sandwiches, cakes and juice.

The children really did cheer Gerald up; and now Penny from Kilkenny has been found, Gerald has somewhere new to live.

Linzi Williams, EYFS Leader, said: “Thanks to Mrs Murray, Gerald's creator, it has been a very busy and exciting few weeks in Early Years.”
