Warning issued by Rochdale RSPCA centre after cat in duffel bag is dumped in bin

Date published: 05 April 2019

The RSPCA animal centre in Rochdale has issued a local warning after a cat was dumped in a bin in Belfield.

Jasper the cat was fortunately found by council workers on Thursday (4 April) inside an abandoned bin, where he had been put into a black duffel bag.

He has since been reunited with his owner.

A member of staff at the Redcross Street centre said: “We are warning all cat owners in the Belfield area of Rochdale to be vigilant.

“Jasper did not put himself in a bin. Luckily, the council workers heard him meowing and Jasper is microchipped so he has been reunited with his owner.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact the RSPCA animal centre on 01706 861897.
