Celebrating women across the globe

Date published: 04 April 2019

Women came together to celebrate womanhood in a glamorous event on Tuesday 26 March at the Norton Grange Hotel in Castleton.

Classic Onyx presents Celebrating Womanhood Globally - an annual event that brings women together to wine and dine, whilst relaxing in an atmosphere of bliss.

The event also saw awards presented to ladies who have contributed positively to the community during the previous year.

Speakers included Dr Erinma Bell, co-founder and CEO of CARISMA, accident and emergency doctor Dr Idorenyin Charles, Emma McAdam, chair of the Greater Manchester Adult Mental Health Service User Network and motivator Jen Lowe.

Mayor Mohammed Zaman, who attended as a guest, said: “My daughter, Mayoress Naaira Zaman, and I attended the ‘Empowering Women’ event aimed to celebrate womanhood globally. This is an annual pre-Mother’s Day event put together by local women celebrating women across the globe.

“The event provides ladies with the opportunity to network, make new friends, eat, dance and be merry. Thank you to Nicky Iginla for inviting us along.”

Organisers Sandra Lawal and Nicky Iginla said: “We encourage women to attend this glamorous event as a way of preparing for Mother’s Day and celebrating with other ladies.

“We look forward to seeing more ladies next year.”

Mayoress Naaira Zaman added: “We were delighted to join the celebrations of women across our communities in Rochdale. It was lovely to see women come together and share their stories and journeys within, or to, Rochdale.

“The evening culminated in women inspiring and encouraging each other in what was a highly entertaining evening. We would like to thank Nicky and her colleagues for all their hard work in making the event the success it was and to all the sponsors, without whom the event would not have been able to take place.”
