MPs criticised over Brexit delay

Date published: 28 March 2019

MEP Paul Nuttall has praised Theresa May’s decision to resign, but criticised MPs for failing to deliver Brexit.

“The people have been let down ever since the Referendum and here we are one day before the date we were supposed to be leaving the EU and frankly we are no nearer.

“I have had various doubts about Mrs May and whether she actually intended to enact the will of the voters, but she has at least shown tenacity over her withdrawal agreement.

“In my book it is very flawed, and I would prefer ‘no deal’ to her deal and this could still happen,” said Mr Nuttall, North West MEP for the Brexit Party.

“I was dismayed that a proposal for a permanent customs union with the EU came closest to passing out of the eight alternative Brexit options yesterday. The EU is a failing trading bloc and the last thing we should be considering is tying ourselves to it,” he added.
