Holy Trinity puts on the Greatest Show

Date published: 27 March 2019

A Greatest Showman-themed talent show at Holy Trinity C of E Primary School in Littleborough has raised £848 for charity.

The extravaganza saw 14 acts perform, showcasing the talents of pupils and staff.

As well as songs from the hit film, which were performed by the entire talent show cast, the audience enjoyed an evening of dancing, singing and comedy acts from the children, while several staff members delivered musical performances including Year 2 teacher Mrs Gillett, who entertained with another of her signature raps.

Holy Trinity’s Got Talent, which is now in its third year, was eventually won by two acts: Year 5 pupil, Matilda Baker, who sang ‘Let It Go’ and Year 4 pupils, Ava Coppinger, Jake Dimond, Finley Williams and Maisy Woodhead with a rendition of George Ezra’s ‘Shotgun’.

The winners were presented with a trophy and will share £50 prize money.

Mark Kenyon, head teacher, said: “The talent show has become a real highlight in our school calendar. It is a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to share their many talents and its been wonderful to see their confidence on stage blossom during the rehearsals.

“We are incredibly proud of all the pupils who have taken part – including those backstage – and grateful too for the staff and volunteers, who have given up so much of their free time to support our performers.

“We are also thrilled that the event has helped raise so much for Once Upon A Smile and DSWestPennine, two charities that are supporting pupils at our school. The generosity of our families never ceases to amaze me – we may be a smaller school, but we have a big heart.”
