Middleton soldier sentenced to three years in prison after accidentally shooting fellow soldier dead

A soldier from Middleton has been sentenced to three years in prison after accidentally shooting Lance Corporal Scott Hetherington, who died in January 2017.
Lance Corporal Colin Theaker, 30, accidentally shot Lance Corporal Hetherington, both of the 2nd Battalion The Duke of Lancaster’s Regiment, in Taji, northwest of Baghdad, Iraq.
Lance Corporal Theaker was found guilty of manslaughter by gross negligence to the court martial centre at Catterick Garrison on Friday (15 March).
He has also been dismissed from her Majesty's service.
