Fundraisers conquer Snowdon for Parents Against Grooming UK

Date published: 11 March 2019

A group of dedicated fundraisers conquered Snowdon’s snowy peaks and gusty winds, raising approximately £1,000 for a local campaign group, on Saturday (9 March).

Wesley Dowd, Greg Egan, Dean England, Nathan Jones, Phillip Charles, Chris Jay and Michael Paley took to the cold and slippery mountain over the course of five hours to raise money for Parents Against Grooming UK.

Founder William Howarth said: “Greg and the lads did this walk to help raise funds towards rent for our walk-in centre which we opened at the start of February. We have already over 40 appointments attended and over 100 consultations either at the front desk or online.”

Michael said: “It was well worth the aches and pains. [I would] gladly do it all again to help a good cause.”

Greg added: “Billy and PAGUK do a fantastic job. I wanted to show my support and also get as much of the town behind the guys that I could. I think we achieved this but my support doesn’t end here: my support ends when PAGUK achieve their goal.”

A total amount of £1,300 is expected to have been raised following collection of funds.

Parents Against Grooming UK was set up in 2012 after the founders had direct dealings with or knew parents whose children had been involved with grooming or had been approached.
