Icy patches, wintry showers and windy

Date published: 10 March 2019

Icy patches, wintry showers and windy, expected Sunday night and first thing Monday giving a few travel problems.

Widespread icy patches will develop on untreated surfaces Sunday evening and night.

Wintry showers will also continue through Sunday evening and night onwards into Monday morning.

Snow accumulations will tend to be largely confined to hills and mountains above 200-300 metres where a few centimetres snow is possible.

At lower-levels, any accumulations of snow will tend to be quite small and patchy in nature with most areas not seeing any snow settling.

Monday will see spells of sunshine with one or two showers for a time, possibly wintry and breezy too.

Cloud will increase later in the day though with rain and strong winds arriving after dark.

Tuesday will be windy with any rain at first clearing to leave showers.

Tuesday night will see further showers and it is likely to become very windy.

Staying very windy for a time on Wednesday before winds moderate, the day will see further showers.

Wednesday night and Thursday will see the unsettled spell continue with further rain or showers but it should become less windy.
