Council workers unload one of the new bins on Rooley Moor Road
The Spotland and Falinge ward is looking a whole lot tidier following delivery of an extra nine waste bins.
The street bins, paid for by ward-delegated Rochdale Township funds, have been installed outside Meanwood Primary School, outside St Clement’s Church, at the Dexine bus stop, and on Rooley Moor Road, Ings Lane, Churchill Street, Spotland Bridge and Mount Street.
Seven of the bins installed are freestanding, with two being mounted onto lamppost poles.
Ward councillor, Wendy Cocks said: “Residents told us that keeping our streets clean was very important to them.
“Spending our local funds on extra bins helps puts a bit of extra pride in our local community.”
Councillor Fasial Rana added: “We wanted to put our local funds to good use and what better way than installing extra litter bins throughout the area. It will help keep our streets looking clean and tidy."
Councillor Cecile Biant added: “There were a number of roads that were always strewn with litter so we hope the extra bins will help improve things.”
