Did you serve in Rochdale Borough Police Force?

Date published: 05 February 2019

This year is the 50th anniversary of the amalgamation of the Rochdale Borough Police Force into the Lancashire Constabulary.

The National Association of Retired Police Officers are working on a project to celebrate this anniversary of the amalgamation of the Rochdale Borough Police Force into Lancashire Constabulary on 1 April 1969.

Did you serve in Rochdale Borough Police Force? Are you the widow/widower of a former Rochdale Borough Officer? Were you based at Rochdale at the time of the 1969 amalgamation?

John Bamford, secretary of the Rochdale Branch of the National Association of Retired Police Officers said: “We are attempting to bring together the surviving members, together with widows/widowers, of the old Rochdale Borough Police Force.

“Agreement has been reached with Rochdale Council to open up the part of Rochdale Town Hall that contains the old Borough Police Cells between 10.00am and 2.00pm on Monday 1 April 2019.

“Even if you were not a Rochdale Borough Officer, but have served at Rochdale and wish to attend, then get in touch.

“The intention is for the Rochdale Branch to produce some form of commemorative reminder so, if you cannot attend but did serve in Rochdale Borough then get in touch so that you can receive this keepsake.”
